Thakali Kitchen, Pokhara

Image
Looking for a good place to have some dhedo, we went to chipledhunga, and we found this Thakali Kitchen. The place was very clean and welcoming. The soothing background music was adding a good flavor to the ambience of the place. The decoration of the table was very good and all the things including the fork and spoons were kept in perfect order. My servers were incredibly kind and accommodating, and also the food was really hot and tasty. On contrary to the food being very nice, the waitstaff did take away my bowl of curd which I hadn't even tasted.   Cost of Chicken Dhedo: 350/- I would definitely recommend going to this place to try the thakali khana here!

Back from Heaven

Image
Yep, as we came back from heaven, we started to experience that the quality of food started to degrade, and we first encountered it at Beni! Not Tasty Chicken Momo Not Tasty Chicken Chowmein (With Purplish Chicken) Also they had a very poor service. In addition, they even didn't have a menu, that was disgusting!

This bridge connects two parts of Jomsom city, separated by Kaligandaki river. I had expected it to be pretty much cold there at the top, but it wasn't! The view, the mountains, the deserted place, it was extremely beautiful! Coming to this holy place, Muktinath, for the second time is indeed a great feeling! ;) Descended towards Jomsom, we had the lunch in a Thakali and it didn't really taste good! After coming back to Jomsom, we had to go to Marpha, a village 6 Kms South, but we couldn't get any vehicle so we had to walk and walk. After walking for almost a couple of hours, we reached Marpha, and immediately, started having the peace of time. The apple farm and the old village looked absolutely marvelous. We stayed in Hotel Tanpopo, the hotel was really great, also the food. Aloo Jeera Chicken Pizza   Chicken Chilly    Bhatmas Sadheko    Potato Omelette Sandwich Wonderful Chicken Khana We could pluck apple in the tree fr...

Heaven's Food

Image
As we reached in the lap of the himalayas, we accommodated in Hotel Dhaulagiri, the first thing we got to eat was the sukuti of chyangra, a mountain goat! It tasted heavenly! :D Along with it, we enjoyed local brandy, Marpha, which is made of apple! A friend happened to get us some hot Samosa, and getting to eat samosa at this place felt really great! Later, the dinner was served, and the dinner tasted equally good, as we had reached the altitude of 2750m, and it was pretty much cold there. We will be heading to muktinath, early tomorrow! :)

On the road to heaven

Image
Packed bags, and we departed to our next destination for today. Today's destination is a city behind the mountain, the cold deserted city Jomsom, 160 km away. We started the journey. Got to see many breathtaking views on the way. From beni, the real thrill started, the road is a real mess! 72 kms of road through the mountains accompanied by small waterfalls, deepest gorge, merciless road, and below the road, is fast flowing,Kaligandaki River. The ride is nerve racking. The wheels of the bus have less than a couple of inches distance with the road. My phone almost fell from my hand while taking this video. However, the pain is balanced by the beauty of the nature that we happen to see outside of the window while our heads bang on the top of the bus while we try peeping through the window.    *Images taken from a moving bus.

What I ate in Pokhara

It was almost 6 PM when we reached lakeside in our hotel, as our car broke down and we had to repair it in the highway. We were really tired and hungry, but didn't wanted to have the meal already so we decided to head toward the lakeside and get some food and drinks. We wanted something different, and the owner of the hotel brought these delicious soyabean and dried buffalo meat. It did really match with the vodka! But, they served it too slow! Food: 3 Service: 2 After gaining some energy from the spirit and food, we headed for some heavy meal. We headed towards a famous attraction for meal in pokhara "maili didi ko khana". As we reached the place, there were a lot of people waiting for their turn to devour the food. Luckily, we got the chance to sit on the queue and got our food after being patient for 50 minutes. In a while, came the food, not matching my expectations! Food: 3 Service: 2.5 The food was average! It didn't really excite me! An...

I have had tasted the food at this place earlier, so we got into the same place. On one side, you can see the highway, on the other side, majestic view of Manakamana Cable Car. The food was delighting!   Food:  3.5 Service:  3.5 I didn't have the photo of it so had to screenshot from the video! ;)
